Are you sure Abe Lincoln started this way?

The references to Lincoln in Hollywood films are legion and are, for the most part, respectful of the man and our history. In the “Now for something completely different” category, we reprint an 8” x 10” publicity still from a Samuel Goldwyn production of 1937, “Ali Baba Goes to Town”, starring Eddie Cantor. The creative juices of the set and costume designers, not to mention the screenwriters, were really flowing then they came up with this bit of lunacy. Only in Hollywood!
