We picture an advertisement from a Chicago newspaper of 1864, offering campaign items to the general public, but aimed primarily towards political clubs and agents. Interestingly, they only have one illustration… a beardless portrait of Lincoln. Ferrotypes are referred to as daguerreotypes and ribbons are satin, rather than silk. Pamphlets and photographs are also offered, but we assume the merchant’s inventory was not fully represented in the short display ad.
